Infinity . a poem by Alice B. Clagett

Written and published on 30 March 2022

Dear Ones,

Here is a poem for each of you, my readers …

Infinity is the axle
On which Time’s wheel
Turns.

Birth is the promise
That death breathes
To our Souls.

Death
Is the legacy
That each rebirth
Enjoins.

Finiteness
Defines
How deeply
We are loved.

Love
Smiles
Through torment
Longed for
From afar.

. . . . .

Ah, Arcturus
Light of my Father’s
Ancient wisdom,
Shine thou
Once more
Upon me!

Wilt thou remember
Thy weeping child?

He, the Christ,
Who walked before me!
She, the Mother,
Who bore Him?

Morning Star!
Light of my mother’s kin!
Seek Me
When Darkness
Longs to find me.

Through all
The turnings of this Wheel …
This circle
Earthly bound …
This One
Remembers.

Find me, my Father!
Sing Me, my Mother!

Though the Wheel turn
Yet without moving
I thy beloved
Speak
Thy presence.
